We offer individual therapy. Presently we do not offer marital/couples or family therapy. We do not have any group options.
Therapy can be an excellent addition to psychotropic medications. There are some people that respond very well to medications and do not need any additional treatment. Conversely, there are some people that respond very well to therapy and no longer require medications. Finally, for many people a combination of medications and therapy is the best option.
No, you do not have to live in Tampa. I am a licensed provider in the state of Florida and offer Telehealth appointments. If you live in the state, but too far away for in-person appointments, we can arrange for Telehealth sessions. You must live in Florida and be in the state at the time of the appointment (we cannot meet if you are traveling out of state). You will have to have access to a device (computer, phone, tablet etc.) capable of video sessions.
My approach is heavily influenced by cognitive-behavioral therapy. However, I tend to integrate techniques and strategies from a variety of other approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, Motivational Interviewing, and Humanistic Therapy.
If you are experiencing an emergency or feel you may harm yourself or someone else, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away. For urgent support, you can also call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) in the United States.
Your first session is focused on understanding what brings you in, your history, and what you want to change. This generally takes the entire first session. Next, you will discuss goals for therapy and start forming a plan for next steps at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful.
